The New York Branch, which commenced business operations in the Fall of 2008, establishes a global presence for China Merchants Bank.

This exciting position at the New York Branch reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer/ Vice President of Finance & Accounting.

Responsibilities

Provide support of finance and accounting systems and records function for the branch.

Provide support for general ledger and records, tax function, accounts payable and receivable function, and assets and liabilities management function.

Manage daily cash position and provide ongoing supervision of Finance and Accounting department operations.

Manage the operating expenses, including staff cost, general and administrative expenses, depreciation, rental expenses and tax.
Supervise and organize annual closing exercise and independent auditing processes.

Prepare financial and regulatory reports required by laws, regulations, and the Board of Directors.

Provide Executive Office with required support in connection with the accounting and finance function of the Branch.

Act as a liaison with IT Department with respect to establishing appropriate accounting for new products, as well as developing and maintaining the core accounting module to ensure that reporting needs are effectively and efficiently met.

Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s in Accounting or MBA strongly preferred.

Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar accounting role; 10 years of professional finance and accounting experience is preferred.

Experience working for a similar international branch is strongly preferred; experience at a Chinese bank is a plus.

Bilingual (English and Mandarin) written and oral communication skills is mandatory.

CPA or Chinese equivalent a plus.

Knowledge of loans, SWIFT, US Dollar Clearing, Trade Finance, foreign exchange and money markets is required; understanding of securities and derivatives is preferred, but not required.

Previous experience in a supervisory position is mandatory.

Thorough understanding of accounting and finance systems typically in current use at U.S. branches of international banks, and experience in maintenance of banking GL systems is required.

Ability to assume a leadership role within the Branch.

Proven experience in working in a team environment and seen as a strong team player.

Supervise and develop junior staff.

Able to prioritize and multi-task; demonstrate flexibility.

Willingness to take initiative.

Strong computer skills are essential. Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is mandatory. Hands-on experience with SAP or comparable platform is strongly preferred.

Experience using Temenos & T24/Globus systems is preferred.

1. Senior Accountant, Consolidations - Northwest Suburbs

The position of senior accountant is responsible for managing all aspects of the corporate consolidation and internal reporting process. This role serves as the primary corporate consolidation liaison between both field and corporate finance department employees.

Requirements; 4-8 years of accounting and consolidations experience, CPA designation and PeopleSoft.

2. Senior Financial Analyst - Southwest Suburbs

The firm is a publicly traded company that builds, owns and operates a variety of energy production facilities in the U.S. serving customer’s needs for reliable and environmentally sustainable electric and thermal energy. The core competency of the Company is to operate energy facilities safely, efficiently and in an environmentally compliant and responsible manner. The projects generate thermal and electric energy on site, minimizing costs, improving environmental footprints and reducing system vulnerabilities. The senior financial analyst will be preparing the monthly financial statements, analyzing G/L activity, explaining variances, assisting in SOX compliance and special project work.

Requirements; four to six years of accounting experience (some public accounting), Great Plains Accounting Software experience, CPA designation, and knowledge of consolidations.

3. Staff Accountant - Downtown

Under general direction of Payroll Manager, assists Senior Accountant with a variety of complex accounting functions for overall accounting support to the payroll department. This includes maintaining a general ledger payroll interface software system; creating and verifying semi-monthly and monthly interface files; timely reconciliation of accounts; preparation of manual journal entries and invoicing; quarterly and year end reporting. As well as for backing up accountant on month end close. Duties will also include those of a Payroll Specialist by preparing 2 semi-monthly payrolls using ADP software for processing.

Requirements; must have payroll experience and familiarity with ADP, SAP experience, G/L experience and an Accounting or Finance degree.

4. Senior Accountant - Western Suburbs

The company has the largest pool of audiovisual and event technology professionals in the industry - over 3000 strong. The Hotel Services Division team members are continually trained in technical, management, sales and hospitality skills to provide consistent, 5-Star service to every client.

This role is designed for someone with an interest in advancing their career by leading projects and the annual audit process. The audit responsibilities will replace some of the duties outlined below during audit season and preparation. Responsible for completion and maintenance of the general ledger by accurately recording monthly transactions, and analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts. Drive the month end close process. Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for legal entities maintained in Quick Books. Create month end financial statements for these entities at month end and year end.

Requirements; experience with Oracle software and a mix of 4-6 years of public/private accounting experience.

5. Internal Audit Manager - Northern Suburbs

This firm is a global, diversified healthcare company that develops, manufactures and markets products that save and sustain lives. They are seeking a manager for their audit department. This role will be a mix of financial and operational audit working with a group of 10 individuals. The travel for this role is very low roughly 15-20%.

Requirements; a mix of public accounting and private industry accounting within a fortune 500 company, CPA or CIA and a minimum of 2 years at a managerial role. Candidates should not possess more than 8 years of total experience.

6. Accounting Manager - Downtown

Direct or perform all accounting functions and analyses associated with ecommerce applications specific to the physician and healthcare network portal. Establish and maintain user application of Lawson Billing and Revenue Management (BR) system for one-time and installment transactions on billing, credit card and direct debit accounts. Direct the daily operation of Lawson BR functions. Responsible for the overall performance of the automated billing and revenue system to ensure system growth and maintain performance incorporating available technologies.

Review and reconcile daily transactions from ecommerce front end application to Lawson financials and Microsoft Access application. Review contracts of third party providers to ensure proper establishment and reporting of transactions. Coordinate and manage the monthly financial close on ecommerce transactions including transaction review, proper revenue recognition and accrual accounting. Establish and prepare written internal controls over ecommerce applications. Ensure the accounting records of ecommerce transactions are in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and internal objectives for accurate interim and final financial reporting.

Requirements; Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or CPA, 5 to 10 years of professional experience managing financial system applications, experience with establishing and/or maintaining automated billing systems (Lawson Systems).

7. Senior Analyst, Financial Reporting - Downtown

The company is a multibillion dollar publicly traded manufacturer.

Position will require the candidate to lead the corporate consolidation process and assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and year-end consolidated actual and forecast financial statements and related SEC filings. Responsibilities will also include preparing and posting of consolidating journal entries, assist with quarterly reviews by external auditors, providing additional support/analysis as required, and preparation of 10-Qs, 10-K.

Requirements; Bachelors Degree in Accounting; Certified Public Accountant, 6+ combined years in a public accounting/financial reporting position.

8. Senior Auditor - Northern Suburbs

Primary responsibility will be to plan and execute financial, operational, internal control and compliance audits on a global basis as well as complete special projects as the needs arise. Special projects will include participation on teams responsible for items such as M&A due diligence, implementing new systems/processes, and fraud and hotline investigations. Dependent upon the audit or special project being completed, will lead project independently, or assist Manager of Internal Audit and/or Director to complete assigned task. Complete planned audits of financial processes (e.g., revenue cycle, manufacturing costing, expenditure cycle, and corporate consolidation) and balance sheet reviews. Complete planned audits of business processes (e.g., new product business plans, sales forecast and purchasing). Complete planned audits of compliance with Corporate Compliance Policies (i.e. Development Agreements, Consulting Agreements, and other activities related to dealings with Health Care Professionals). Assist with the implementation of technology and other initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and effectiveness of internal audit department. Travel requirement will be between 20-30%.

Requirements; 4+ year of public accounting experience (BIG 4) and CPA designation.

9. Valuation Manager - Downtown

A boutique consulting firm is seeking a manager for their valuation practice. This person will serve as a lead on client service teams. Requirements for this role are at least 7 years of business and intangible asset valuation.

10. Tax Manager - Western Suburbs

This position will be part of the corporate tax team having responsibility for providing tax related services to various corporate entities within the Asset Management Division. The position will have responsibility for federal tax compliance work as well as coordinating local support for international tax, federal audits and transfer pricing to the parent corporate tax group. Additional responsibilities include assisting in the review of state & local tax compliance and FAS 109 tax provisions.

11. Financial Analyst - Downtown

The Financial Analyst will be responsible for coordinating data collection from the business units, analyzing the data and reporting the consolidated results. Person will also work on the monthly/quarterly forecasts as well as the Annual Operating Plan. In addition, the person will handle ad-hoc reporting requirements. The successful candidate will have experience constructing financial models. This individual will work closely with the sales group helping them with product pricing and sales promotion.

Requirments; must have be completely proficient with Excel and have a Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance.

12. Public Accounting - Chicago land Area

Several small and midsized public accounting frims are seeking candidates from senior associates to senior manager/directors. These firms range in size from 15 - 200+ professionals. They typically look for candidates with a mix of accounting/audit and tax experience. Several offer a more flexible schedule than you’ll find in a bigger environment with the opportunity make a huge impact.
