John Leonard, CFA -  Global Head of Equities, Group Management Board Member (GMB), UBS Global Asset Management

John Leonard is Global Head of Equities with overall responsibility for the Equities business at UBS Global Asset Management. He has particular responsibility for the Core/Value investment pillar, overseeing portfolio management and research worldwide at UBS Global Asset Management. John is a member of the UBS Global Asset Management Executive Committee. He is also a member of the Equities Management Committee, North American Equities Subcommittee and the Global Corporate Governance Committee.

Prior to joining UBS in 1991, John worked as an investment analyst at a real estate management company and as a financial advisor with two investment management firms.

John obtained his bachelor degree from Dartmouth College and his MBA from University of Chicago. He has 23 years of investment industry experiences and is a member of the CFA Institute.

Frank FX Gong, Ph.D. - Managing Director, Head of China Research/Strategy, Chief Economist, JPMorgan Securities (Asia Pacific) Limited

Frank FX Gong is Managing Director and Head of Research and Chief Economist for China–leading JPMorgan’s China research team covering Credit & Rates, Equity and Economic Research. Previously, Frank spent seven years with Bank of America, where he was the Chief Strategist and Co-Head of Global Research in the currency and rates market research group. Previously, he was an economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, where his duties included research and policy submissions to the FOMC. Frank holds a Ph.D. in Financial Economics from Wharton at the University of Pennsylvania.

Nick Ronalds, CFA - Executive Director, FIA Asia and President, RhoFinancial

Nick Ronalds is Executive Director, FIA Asia, responsible for managing the Asian affiliate of the Futures Industry Association. He is also President of RhoFinancial, an advisory firm focusing on Asia and risk management.

Nick’s career in the futures industry spans over 20 years and has included senior positions at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the futures brokerage units of several global futures brokerage firms. From 1987 to 1994 he was based in Tokyo, where he was Managing Director of the joint office of the CME and Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) (long before their merger). Over the years he has advised a wide range of institutional investors, including central banks, mutual funds, and other financial intermediaries, on the effective use of exchange-traded derivatives to enhance their portfolio management strategies. He has been traveling to China regularly since his first visit there in March of 1989 at the invitation of the Ministry of Commerce to advise them on the structure and management of futures exchanges.

He has published many articles on futures and financial topics and co-authored a chapter on Chinese commodity futures markets in Intelligent Commodity Investing, published in the spring of 2007 by RiskBooks and one of the publisher’s best sellers. He is presently editing a book on Asian financial markets, to be published by Elsevier. He is a CFA charter holder and past-President of the CFA Society of Chicago.

Wei Li, Ph.D., CFA - Executive Vice President, Director of Research, Thomas White International, Ltd.

Dr. Wei Li is currently Executive Vice President and Director of Research of Thomas White International, Ltd., a private investment management and research firm in Chicago, Illinois. Wei is a member of Thomas White International’s management team, overseeing its research department. His responsibilities include researching and implementing stock selection models, portfolio construction, asset allocation and performance attribution as well as new product development. Wei is also responsible for the research and portfolio management of the firm’s investment in the Asian equities markets.

Prior to joining TWI, Wei held teaching and research positions with McGill University in Canada and Renssenlaer Polytechnic Institute in New York.

Wei obtained his Ph.D. in mathematics from Purdue University in Indiana and MS from Nanjing University.  He is a member of CFA Institute and served on the curriculum committee of the CFA Institute.
